Rebuild NJ

Rebuild NJ transforms the commitment and dedication of caring volunteers into meaningful service, repairing homes damaged by Superstorm Sandy in New Jersey’s hardest hit communities.  A collaborative effort of four United Ways from throughout New Jersey, trained Rebuild NJ Site Leaders enable unskilled volunteers to provide much needed repairs that range from gutting homes to insulation and dry wall installation to finish work.  Bringing together volunteers from corporations, faith communities, student groups and the general public, ReBuild NJ mobilizes an army of caring volunteers, committed to rebuilding families’ homes and lives.

AmeriCorps Members make up the majority of ReBuild NJ’s Site Leadership team.  Since its launch in March 2013, Rebuild NJ volunteers have worked on over 75 homes and community centers.  Site Leaders have supported more than 1,000 volunteers who have contributed thousands of hours of service, saved homeowners and organizations hundreds of thousands of dollars, and created a community of individuals committed to their neighbors’ recovery.  Rebuild NJ is the embodiment of United Way’s mission to mobilize the caring power of communities to improve lives.
