A Great Day for UWMC’s Spring Tee-Off
On Monday, May 16th, 2011, golfers fromthe area teed off in support of United Way of Monmouth County. The 2011 Annual Spring Tee-Off brought over 100 golfers to the Hollywood Golf Club in Deal, NJ, for a day of fun and relaxation on the links. UBS Financial Services was once again the title sponsor of the event, which was chaired by Tim Donnelly of UBS Financial Services and John Nicklin of Star Installations.
“The weather may not have cooperated, but this was still a terrific day to get out, enjoy a round of golf and support the work of United Way,” said Donnelly. “UBS Financial Services is proud to support United Way of Monmouth County and give back to our community. This was an excellent Spring Tee-Off, and I’m sure next year’s will be even better.”
It may not have been ideal weather for golf, but our supporters braved the elements to get their 18 holes in. Golfers had the opportunity to win great prizes, including a Cadillac CTS and a set of Callaway Irons for a hole-in-one. Golfers also competed in a longest drive, closest to the pin and putting contest. Following the tournament, players, UWMC staff and volunteers came together in the clubhouse for dinner, an awards presentation, silent auction and presentation from Bob Hodnett, Executive Director of The First Tee of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
The silent auction, chaired by Maureen Bonney and Mary Massey, brought in over $6,400 as attendees bid on such items as foursomes at private clubs, sports memorabilia and fine wines. The winner of the 50/50 took home nearly $1,800. In total, the Spring Tee-Off raised more than $41,300 for UWMC. The money raised from this event will fund UWMC’s Community Impact Agenda, which focuses on work in the areas of Education, Income and Health.
