SchoolTime Wishes
The annual SchoolTime Wishes drive provides backpacks and supplies to our area children preparing them for the first day of school. Graciously sponsored by the J.F. Kiely Construction Company, the drive coordinates donors from area United Way corporate supporters, local nonprofit agencies and community members who donate backpacks filled with school supplies to be distributed within Monmouth County. This year, as an added bonus to the collection drive, Investors Savings Bank utilized all their Monmouth County locations as a drop site for donations from the public.
A total of fourteen local nonprofit agencies received more than 270 filled backpacks, and boxes of additional loose supplies including: notebooks, crayons, pencils, pens and assorted items to help children and their families with school readiness. This was an increase over last year’s drive intake.
The newly created United Way of Monmouth County Volunteer Center coordinated this year’s drive, and more than a dozen volunteers came to the Center to count and organize the supplies for distribution.
