Information and Awareness of Health Services

Participants in the UWMC Health focus group cited the lack of information on available services and programs as an overall underlying root cause of health related issues, such as abuse & neglect and maternal & infant health. Participants in this focus group also discussed how the lack of awareness of the signs and symptoms of issues, such as mental health, can impact a person’s ability to recognize and seek treatment for a problem. 81% of respondents to the UWMC Community Leaders survey also ranked information/knowledge of resources as either a very serious or somewhat serious issue. Likewise, 51.4% of participants in a MAPP focus group felt that there is insufficient information about available services.
